I'm not a huge Rolling Stones fan, but they were in Seattle, about three hours away from me. Something I felt I should do.
Some of the downsides - 1.) There was an opening act. It made me consider, how many opening acts have I really liked? Two. Jackson Brown was an opening act once and George Harrison's son was an opening act. Otherwise, I'm just putting up with it until the act I came to see come on. After he got done, it was still a long time until the Rolling Stones came on. Scheduled for 8:00 pm, they came on at 9:30. Worth it, but coming on at 8:00 would have been more worth it. 2.) I had bad seats. I knew what I paid for, so it was fine. But I don't like heights and I was about five rows from the top. They had big screens, so I could see Mick, but still small. The actual Mick was a little dot.
The plus sides - 1.) They were The Rolling Stones. Its a little surprising they're still doing their thing, but they sound just as good as they always have. Mick still struts around on stage. He doesn't take his shirt off anymore, but he still moves like Jaggar. 2.) He doesn't take his shirt off anymore. 3.) They didn't do my fave Out of Time, but they did my other fave Get Off My Cloud. And that has a great echo part for the crowd - Hey - hey - You - you - get off my cloud. 4.) I made a nice exit. I knew what their final song would be, I Can't Get No Satisfaction, so I waited for the guitar intro, then started for the exit. I could still hear the whole song as I left and I made it too my car quickly and drove straight out.Still not my favorite band, but they were really good and a great experience.
