Second best game I've ever seen was an all-star game. Dave Parker, Pete Rose, Tony Gwynn, etc. Great game. The San Diego Chicken was there and I got his autograph. Seriously. I had good seats too. I sat just a few rows in back of a Dodger great - Pee Wee Reese. Parker had a long through from right field to get a runner at home plate. Probably the highlight was watching Nolan Ryan. He was the starter for the National League. Unbelievable how fast he threw. It was soooo much faster than anyone else, and he was throwing again other all-stars.
#1 - Best game I ever saw was another all-star game. They had an old-timers game in a minor league park. I thought I might know a few of the players, and the tickets were like $5, so I took a chance on it. It turned out to be awesome. Willie Mays, Bob Feller, Maury Wills, Ernie Banks, Hank Aaron, Sam McDowell, Whitey Ford. It was unbelievable. He didn't play, but Joe DiMaggio was there in street clothes. Willie threw a guy out at the plate. He was still kind of young back then, but still. Awesome.
