Number 3 of my list of best games I've seen:
Boston Red Sox - Not even sure who they were playing. It ranks high if only because it was in Fenway Park. Its over a hundred years old and was probably huge back in the day. Now, it seems tiny. I bet there are some minor league parks that are bigger. I was in the outfield bleachers - the area where I pretty much always sit. Its cheap and you're not likely to not pay attention and suddenly get hit with a line drive. Anything coming toward you is going to be a home run, so there would be people yelling as it came at you.
Bottom of the ninth inning and Dwight Evans, nicknamed Dewey for some reason, hit a home run to tie it up. Exiting. He was their center fielder, so he was right in front of us when they took the field for extra innings. I think it was the bottom of the 11th inning and Boston sends up a rookie I had never heard of. Another weird name - Wade Boggs. Hits a home run. Crowd goes wild. It had to be one of his first at-bats in the major leagues. He goes on to win a bunch of batting titles and get into the Hall of Fame.
Number 4:
Portland Trailblazers vs. L.A. Lakers - Portland was just getting good. A big game against always good Lakers. Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Magic Johnson, etc. Terry got fouled as time expired. Portland was down by one point. Terry, who was making 90% of his free throws that year missed his first one. Aaaarggh! But he made the second, sending it into overtime. Portland lost. Well its only one loss. But it was kind of a big deal. We finished a game behind Detroit that season who we played in the NBA Finals. So Detroit had home court advantage and defeated us. Aaaaarggh!
