I've decided to restart my blog. It has been two years or more. I don't remember if I had gotten bored, or ran out of things to say, or got busy. Before, I did it to improve my writing. I guess that is still the reason today, but I do have plenty of opinions that the world probably needs to hear. I consider myself an author, not necessarily a good one, but an author. So this is good for me. Mrs. Moser, my sixth grade English teacher made us write two pages, on any topic of our choosing, every week. I still remember those assignments were due on Wednesdays and that Tuesday evenings were stressful times for me. She said there was a theory that just the act of writing made you a better writer. I don't know that is true. She wasn't sure it was true herself. The person that wrote it in the first place perhaps didn't know it was true either. It might have been just a thought this person had.
There are a lot of things that people have said that get reprinted so people accept them, but they turn out to be quite wrong.
1.) "Wear a hat when it is cold. You lose 90% of your body heat through your head." Not true.
2.) "You only use 10% of your brain power." Not true.
3.) It takes 27 (the number varies) times of doing something before it becomes a habit. " Not true.
Just maybe the act of writing makes you a better writing. But then again, maybe not. Maybe it just reinforces what you're doing. Yesterday I heard - "Practice doesn't make perfect - Practice makes permanent." I think that one is true. Hopefully Mrs. Moser was right, too.
