Statues

I found this list of top 10 statues in the world. I wasn't sure I had seen any turned out to be kind of an interesting lists.

10. Easter Island heads - I've seen one in a museum - The British Museum I think. That's good, because I don't think I would ever travel to Easter Island for any reason.

9. Christ the Redeemer - In Brazil. Its been in a lot of movies. That would be fun to see. You can go to the top and see it up close. No way would I do that.

8. Abraham Lincoln - I should have thought of this one. Has anyone thought of putting a Santa hat on him at Christmas and letting people climb onto his lap. It'd be a money maker.

7. Statue of Liberty - I've been to that. I took the stairs to the first level. Just going there is way up. My healthy respect for heights kicked in even there.

6. David by Michelango - I was in Florence once. There is a huge line to see it, but they have a replica of it outside in a plaza. I thought, "close enough".

5. David by Donatello - It shouldn't be ahead on this list. David looks like a girl. Is it weird that two famous statues of David where by famous artists that were also Mutant Ninja Turtles?

4. The Kiss - Rodin

3. Discus Thrower - I've seen pictures of these, but the list is starting to go downhill. But maybe that's because I'm American and prejudiced for those.

2. Venus de Milo - I think I've seen this. In the Louvre

1. The Thinker - I was nearby a copy of it, but didn't see it. I don't think that counts for me.

Winning statue - I'll agree with "The Thinker". Winning sculptor - Rodin. The only one with two in the top ten and actually two in the top three. Nice job.

Surprised Victory at Samothrace and The Pieta didn't make it in. If I know a name of a statue, its got to be pretty famous.
