Epcot Center

I forgot that when I went to Florida I went to Epcot Center for a day. It was fun, but I would say one day is probably plenty. Its kind of like Disneyland. Kind of. Its like when I was as a child knowing a Disney cartoon was coming on and I thought it might be Donald Duck, but ended up being Ludwig Von Drake. Ludwig always tried to teach kids stuff. Kids aren't looking for that. If you know its going to be Ludwig you can brace yourself for that and you'll do fine.

So, Epcot is just great as long as you don't let your expectations get the better of you. It had a few exciting rides for those into that kind of thing. I for one am not into those things, but I was a little trooper and did a couple. They had one thing where you rode in a test car. You are basically auditioning for the part of a crash test dummy. At the last part you go from zero to sixty real quick. I don't remember how quick, but enough that I thought we would die.

The giant golf ball thing was cool. You can go inside and do a tram ride thing were you go past displays showing world history. Its run by Disney, so its well-done. But kind of on the lame side of Disney things.

The back half of the park was all their different lands - Morocco, England, Finland, Germany, etc. There were probably ten or so. A highlight was being able to do my borderline offensive impressions of each language. I thought I did a nice job. I could only do Germany from watching old WWII movies. "Der wienershnitzel fraulein, mein fuhrer blitzkreig." See, its easy. Sweden was basically my impression of the Swedish Chef from the Muppet Show. Even I was insulted by my impression when we got to Japan, but what are you going to do? The worst land was the U.S. It was just kind of bland. They had some bright lights where I acted out the history of the United States as told through shadow puppets. I was almost deported.

So quite a bit of fun. It was 3 days of Universal and 1 day at Epcot. That is probably about the right ratio.
