A couple weeks ago I was walking down a street in Portland and they were filming an episode of Portlandia. That's right! We walked right onto the set! By set I mean we were turned a corner and there they were on the street. It was cool to see how they did it. They had a blue car on a small trailer just parked on a side street. In front was a pickup with a couple of cameras and a couple people in the back. I wanted to hear the director say cut, but I think she just said, "OK, we got it." Good enough.Fred Armisen was in the front seat. We waved to us!!!! Sell my clothes, I going to heaven. OK, I didn't really know Fred all that well before this, but now I'm a huge fan. He was on Saturday Night Live. He was the one that did the Barak Obama impersonations. He is also is with the band sometimes on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Google "Fred Talks" and you get short videos of him ad-libbing and just being hilarious with Seth.
And then there is Portlandia. I bought Season 3 of it and its hilarious. It's mostly short clips put into a half hour TV show. It makes fun of the Portland lifestyle and weird Portlandians. I wish I was wearing my Richard Nixon "Shut Up, Hippie" T-shirt when this happened. I'm sure Fred would have liked that.
So check out Fred. He is now my favorite person.
