Mayberry, Part 1
I don't really have part two planned out at all, but I'm sure this will be a two-parter. So, Andy Griffith grew up in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. When he got his own TV show he called the name of the fictitious city, Mayberry, as a take- off on his home town. Mt. Airy is near Pilot Mountain, which on the TV show was renamed to Mt. Pilot. Anyway, it's the coolest place. The show was actually filmed in California, and Mt. Airy is half like the town of Mayberry and half tourist trap, but it is awesome anyway. In stores you can buy every conceivable type of Mayberry related merchandise. That's for the gullible tourists. (I got a mug.) There are replicas of some of the buildings. They aren't the actually ones, but its still cool. I've attached a few of them - Goober's gas station, the sheriff's office, Floyd's barber shop, etc.
We ate lunch at Barney's Cafe. I almost had the Barney Burger, but it was $6.95. Too rich for my taste. C'mon Barn. You just beat all, you know that? Sorry, I was channeling Andy there. We could have eaten lunch at the Snappy Lunch, but that had a mile long line. More next time.
