We spent the past week in Atlanta. Its a cool town with lots of stuff to do. There are a lot of things related to the '96 Olympics. We stayed about a block from the Olympic Centennial Park. Atlanta is the headquarters for Coca-cola. They have "The World of Coke" which is like Disneyland for Coke fans. We had a tour of CNN which was my favorite thing. We saw the Martin Luther King Memorial and the next day went to the Ebeneezer Baptist Church. They are in a new building now across from the one where MLK Sr and Jr were ministers. Lets just say its not the kind of church service you could sleep through.
We watched the Braves play the Marlins. The Braves had 13 hits, but somehow managed to score only one run. It also happened to be the 10,000th loss in Braves history - only the second team ever to do that. All in all, not a great day for the Braves. My favorite player now is Dan Uggla, their second baseman. I figure in school he got made fun of because of his name. I think having a lot of fans might help his fragile self esteem. Lately I root for players with quirky names - Evan Longoria, Coco Crisp, and Milton Bradley are some of my favorite guys.
Jimmy Carter's Presidential Library is in Atlanta. On the plus side, we didn't have to worry about crowded conditions there. If he had been a better president or had some kind of scandal I think it would help attendance.
Everytime I go east, which is not often, I check on their mayonnaise. Here, on Best Foods labels, it says they are called Hellman's east of the Mississippi. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe some long standing mayonnaise feud that was never resolved. Anyway you'll be glad to know I found mayonnaise and it is indeed called Hellman's.
