Bob Newhart is my favorite tv personality of all-time. I saw pretty much every episode of The Bob Newhart Show, where he was a therapist, and Newhart, where he was an inkeeper. I'm sure I missed a few. I went back about a year ago and rewatched every episode of the first show. I think that was the best of the two. He also had a short-lived show called Bob that I never saw at all. Then there was another that starred him and Judd Hirsch that should have been more popular than it was, but it didn't last long either.
When he was a stand up comedian, his thing was to pretend he was talking to someone on the telephone, but all you heard was his side of the conversation. Watching him on tv, I didn't realize until many episodes in, how many times he did that on his shows. He's on the phone pretending to talk with someone once or twice every episode.
His four shows were great, but then there are the albums The Big Bang Theory, and Elf. Good job, Bob. You made my life a lot better.
