Draft Disappointment

They had the lottery selections for the NBA draft yesterday. My little Trailblazers decided to tank this season (i.e., lose games on purpose, giving a team a better chance of a higher selection in the draft.) The losing was for naught. We came in 7th. We had a better than 50% chance of being in the top four. We had only an 18.6% chance of being in 7th or lower, but we defied the odds. We're not the only sad ones. Detroit had a really bad season, in fact, one of the worst ever. They only get the 5th choice. Atlanta should be overjoyed. They should have come in around 10th, but got the #1 pick, something they had a 3% chance of doing.

On the bright side, things don't always line up the way the draft goes. There are plenty of great players that were picked at seven or lower. Steph Curry was a 7th pick. Blazer legend Clyde Drexler was 14th, Karl Malone 13th, Isaiah Thomas 60th. All hall of famers.

We have not just a 7th, but due to a trade, also the 14th spot. Hope is alive.
