I took a long break from blogging anything. I don't know why. I just wasn't into it. I think I am now. At least every other week. They say if you do it, it should be at least once a week. I don't need your rules man.
I do have something for this time - The Kentucky Derby. I watched it this Saturday. I picked the winning horse. He had the third best odds, eight to one. I thought that's in the sweet spot. Too high and they don't pay out much and too low and they're literally "also rans". That is the total of my horse racing philosophy. I think 8 to 1 means if I bet a $100 I would have won $800. Awesome. However, I'm cheap so if I bet at all (doubtful) I would have bet $1.
They mentioned a past winner - Funny Cide. I met him (her?) once. Seriously. He is retired and living it up at the Kentucky Horse Park. He was in a stall and it was just him and me. I talked to him quite a bit. I'm pretty sure he has no idea that we was famous and all in the news at one time. Fame is fleeting and for animals its pretty much non-existent. "I remember I ran in a circle once. The guy on top kept whipping me. Then they put a bunch a dead plants around my neck. Weird day."
It kind of lets you know that fame is no big deal. Kentucky Derby is as big as it gets for a horse and they don't even know. Case in point - I don't remember the name of the horse that just won.
