World's Best Cemetery

Onward with my morbid fascination with cemeteries. I found a great one. It's in Los Angeles. It is called the Westwood something, something cemetery. You can Google it. Anyway, its is awesome. I just like finding famous people's graves. Usually it is historical people, but this time it is the world of entertainment.

What is great about this one? For one thing, it is small. Some are acres and acres. This is less than one city block. The picture at the right shows most of it. I couldn't fit the whole view in the picture, but this shows you how tiny it is. Secondly, the owners don't seem to mind people coming in. I hear some of the L.A. cemeteries get a little put out by people like myself just walking through. It's not like they had tours, but they weren't cranky about people being there. Thirdly, it has a huge number of famous foks there. Its far more than any other I've been through.

Marilyn Monroe alone would be enough to make it special. I always assumed her spot was inside of a building locked away. It isn't. But she isn't all - Dean Martin, Carroll O'Connor, Bob Crane (Hogan's Heroes), Don Knots, Rodney Dangerfield, Natalie Wood, Armand Hammer, Eva Gabor, Mel Torme, Rod McKuen, Farrah Fawcett, Merv Griffen, Karl Malden, Jack Lemmon, Peter Falk, Donna Reed, Truman Capote, Jackie Collins.

Anyway, it was very interesting. There were a few other tourists there when I was. Everyone was very respectful. I can understand some cemeteries not wanting a bunch of people walking through, but it really wasn't disruptive at all. Until now I've only gone to cemeteries containing presidents, Civil War generals, etc. This opens new opportunities for me. I'm sure there are others in L.A. However, I'm sure none will top this one.
