I think most people are rooting for them. Why, you ask?
- First of all, they seem to be pretty good guys. No big braggarts or anything. They do have Chapman who was suspended for domestic violence. Its difficult, but if you can overlook that, they seem to be a class team.

- Also, I think people are rooting for them because they don't have a lot of built-up animosities. I hate teams that have beaten a team I love in a Super Bowl or a World Series. The Cubs don't have a history of doing anything to anyone in the playoff for several generations.
- Their mascot. Seriously, Cubs? Who doesn't love cuddly cubs? If you rank sports mascots by likability, who is going to beat that? I suppose something with a heavenly connection, e.g. the Saints, the Angels. Otherwise, unless there are teams like the Cute Little Puppies or Adorable Kitties, I think the Cubs have a lock on it.
I won't be getting carried away with them. I don't have a long time connection with them. Also, I have a history of rooting for teams that get to championship games and then loose. I don't want to put that on them. I would be the next Steve Bartman. I don't want to go there.
If there is a downside to the Cubs, its how they treated Steve Bartman for the last few decades. Hopefully there will be a World Series win and we can all be friends.
