Dunder Mifflin

Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. I got to see where they filmed maybe my favorite show ever - The Office. So cool. The show is supposedly set in Scranton, PA, but they actually filmed it in LA. (Have I mentioned that until I was in my late teens I always thought when people said LA they were talking about Louisiana? That is the abbreviation, right? Why do I keep hearing about Louisiana on the news? What is going on down there? A pretty happening place. It all makes sense to me now.)

So the building is in LA (Los Angeles) in not a super attractive part of town. It's kind of a business/ industrial area. It was and is an actual film studio, so that is why they filmed there. Good thinking. Sometimes shows will show the outside of a building and the inside and pretend its the same place, when in reality, they could be on separate coasts. This was all in the same place. I couldn't go inside, but that's fine. Just to see the outside was cool enough.

I used to have an Office club that would discuss the previous episode and examine how close the events were to things we actually did. (Sometimes, disturbingly close.) Having a Pepsi and discussing the show - good times. I could never figure out who I would have been on the show. I can see elements of Jim, Michael, Dwight, and Creed in me. Maybe that is why I liked it so much.

So now I've seen the outside of the Friends apartment (NY), the Seinfeld Cafe (NY) and The Office. I guessing NY and LA have all those kinds of places. I'm not sure if I'll be in NY again, but I'm sure LA. I should start making a list.
