Garrison Keillor

I saw Garrison Keillor a few days ago. I don't go to that many concerts and things. I just happen to have had several things going recently seems like. I don't like many movies. I sleep during the middle third anyway. That really messes with the plot line when you do that. If I really want to see it, I'll struggle to stay awake for awhile. If not, I just go ahead and give in. I let myself get comfortable and figure I'll see you in about half an hour. A lot can happen in a movie in a half hour's time, let me tell you. Very hard to catch on after you wake up. Plus I daydream a lot anyway. My mind is wandering, then I try to catch back up. "Wait. Who's that guy? Why did he shoot him? Is that the same guy as before? I'm confused."

There are several movies I want to see right now. They were coming out during the holiday season. There were seven of them and so far I haven't seen any. Dumb and Dumber To is here and I just haven't gone yet. For the others, they'll all show up at once or more than likely won't come to my town at all. I probably see 12 movies a year tops. And if you do the math of taking out the middle third of the movies I sleep through, its really the equivalent of 8 movies.

So I go to movies a little. I try not to go to plays at all. It's like a movie with mistakes. With a movie the director can focus you on what they want you to pay attention to. At a play I'm getting distracted by stuff like the clothes, what is going on with the actors that aren't talking, counting mistakes, wondering how much time is left, etc. By the way, I hate anything where you think its coming to the end, but then you aren't. "Bond, you had the villain, then you let him go. Come on. There goes another thirty minutes from my life. I've got things to do." In fact, it seems like everything other than a half hour TV show, should be wrapping up before it actually does. I've never gone to a movie and thought, "That ended quicker than I thought it would. Where did the time go?" And that's with my half hour break in the middle.

I also don't do concerts of people I don't know. If I haven't heard of them, I just am not interested. Same thing with sporting events. It's got to be professional sports or a college team I really care about. Otherwise, I feel like I'm just paying money to watch people exercise.

I had every intention of talking about Garrison Keillor, but I got side tracked. Next time.
