I just watched the Popeye's Bahama Bowl. Apparently there is such a thing. I had it on my car radio. I lost interest when it was Kentucky on top in the 4th quarter 49-14. Later I saw the final score 49-48. What the what??? Turns out I could watch the replay on ESPN.com. Once again, bless you ESPN. Somehow Michigan scores 34 points in the last 11 minutes of the game. There were no onside kicks recovered and just one fumble. I wouldn't that thought that possible. With a couple minutes left to go Michigan was behind by 14 and didn't have the ball. Fast forward to 1 second left and Michigan is on their own 20 yard line. They put up a prayer and it's answered. The last play had a Hail Mary, three laterals and a dive into the end zone to make it 49-48. Michigan went for a two point conversion to win, which in Hollywood would have scored to complete the come from behind victory. Unfortunately, this was played in the Bahamas and it failed.
What a game. There were twelve touchdown passes. The losing quarterback had seven of them. I don't think American Football is too big in the Bahamas. It looked like they invited a lot of empty seats. The stats said there were thirteen thousand at the game. That seems generous from what I saw. If I managed to be in the Bahamas during December I guess I probably wouldn't go to a football game either.
It was a Christmas Eve almost-miracle. It wasn't the most important, but it has my vote as the most fun game of 2014.
