Paul McCartney

I did in fact see Paul McCartney about a week ago. I believe I previously have detailed my difficulties making this happen. That includes trying to work through the fine people at Stub Hub and the slimeballs at Ticketmaster. Finally got it to work. I knew I wouldn't feel confident about this until I was inside and they actually scanned my ticket. At which point my excitedness was still there and my anxiety was gone. I tried to reduce my anxiety by being there in plenty of time. It turns out that two hours before the doors open is probably more than necessary, but you can't take too many precautions with an event like this. My anxiety came back just a bit when the 8:00 concert ended up being 8:45. But when he did - it was all good. In fact it was all outstanding.

He came out and went right into Eight Days a Week. He did a bunch of Beatle songs - Lady Madonna, Hey Jude, Let it Be, Blackbird, Paperback Writer, Eleanor Rigby and on and on. He also did a bunch of Wings songs. It happened to be Ringo's birthday, so we sang Yellow Submarine for him. It was all fun. Even the part on Live and Let Die where flames shot up and I almost wet my pants. It was a huge concert, then the encore was 3 songs and then a second encore of another three songs. It was all just three hours of fun.

He didn't do Penny Lane, my favorite Beatles song, but he did Another Day, my favorite Wings song. There was no way he could do all his songs, but you definitely get your money's worth. He's not a spring chicken anymore and the premise of When I'm 64 doesn't really apply anymore, but he still sounds and looks great. Way to go, mate.
