Our Nixon

CNN had a two hour special that was home movies of Richard Nixon. How fun is that? It was some of his aides taking the movies, actually. One of the comments on-line was they should follow up with a movie. Maybe Richard Nixon, Vampire Hunter. Not a bad idea.

Here's something fun - Dick Nixon playing the piano: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCsGSMze_6Q  Check that out.

There is still space on Mt. Rushmore to squeeze in one more presidential head. Or we could just replace Jefferson with Nixon. It would increase attendance there I bet. How many people would watch two hours of home movies of any other president? "Our Carter", "Our Fillmore", "Our Van Buren". No. I don't think so. Why do people hate Dick so much anyway. Some of his people broke into a hotel room to steal Democratic secrets on how McGovern was going to pull off his big election victory. McGovern only got a couple hundred votes total. It's not like it mattered.

Let me tell you why people don't like Dick Nixon:

1. Watergate. Big whoop. There have been probably 20 worse things presidents have done than that.
2. Trashing Daniel Ellsburg's psychiatrist's office. Ellsburg was a punk giving out government secrets. Barak should do the same to these guys that do it now.
3. Secretly invading other countries. The Viet Cong would attack our troops then sneak across the border thinking we couldn't go over them. I say, "Way to go, Dick. You're only mistake is not using nuclear weapons.
4. He used bad language on the tapes. His aides later said that his statements were a lot milder than people assumed they were. He should have just left them in the transcripts instead of saying "expletive deleted".
5. He taped conversations. It now comes out that Kennedy and Johnson did the same thing. Now, historians think that's a great national resource. Not for Nixon, though. It would be alright if we could here what they had to say, but their families get to control what is released. Let's here the parts of the Kennedy tapes when he has some of his girlfriends come over. The only time the Nixon tapes are on the news his when he has something to say about Jews or whatever.
6. He cheated on his taxes.  He took a deduction for donating his vice presidential papers, which Eisenhower had advised him to do. The worst thing about that is that lead to him say, "I am not a crook". Talk about saying something you wish you could take back.

Trust me, I could go on, but that's enough - for now.
