Nashville

We went to Nashville this weekend in honor of Martin Luther King. I think its what Dr. King would have wanted. On the way there, we drove through Bowling Green. I am willing to bet you were not aware that Bowling Green is the home of the Corvette plant, Fruit of the Loom, and Duncan Hines. I knew about the Corvette thing, but not the others. Every Corvette is made in Bowling Green. I took a picture of the factory. I had my little Dodge Neon in the foreground, so later he can show all his friends. I remember in junior high a bunch of the boys would argue over Ford vs. Chevy. I thought that was stupid then and I still don't understand it. These kids, still years away from getting a driver's licence, would have these major arguments over what was better. I couldn't even (and still can't) identify a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge pick up, unless I can see its logo on the truck. In fact, I still can't identify cars except some Volkswagens, Dodge Neons, and now, Corvettes.

Anyway, Nashville was cool. Walking around Broadway in Nashville on a Saturday Night is somehow like Las Vegas. There's a lot of action, but in a more fun, wholesome way.

I had been to the Hermitage, Andrew Jackson's home, a long time ago, so I wasn't sure if I needed to go again. I did and it was worth it. Jackson, who I feel is neck and neck with Kennedy for most over-rated president, is not my favorite, but it was really a fun time for me. They have made a lot of improvements, including a gizmo you can take with you and play to hear explanations of various sites on the property. Inside the house there were guides that explained things and answered questions. They were dressed up to look like people of that time period. Here would be a fun job for me - Spend a month at various presidential houses and guide tours. Maybe switch off and do a different one every few months. OK, not for everyone, but I would like it.
