Last time I mentioned how I try to read classic books sometimes and sometimes they are really boring. The winner - Moby Dick. How could a book about chasing a whale in a rickety ship be boring? If it had been cut down to a fifty page book it would have been alright, or maybe a magazine article. Instead it just went on and on. And about really boring stuff. It was a long time ago I read it, but I still remember how cripplingly dull it was. "This is what each of the masts do. This is how we cut up fish we catch. This is what we do with blubber." It just went on and on. I guess all that is good to know if I ever find myself on a whaling voyage. It could happen.
Also, I'm going to start reading currently popular books so I can see what all the fuss is about. That would be stuff like Twilight, The Hunger Games, etc. They really aren't my kind of thing, but I'm curious about why they're such a big deal. I'm currently reading Twilight. I'm not proud of this. It seems like its target audience is 12 year old girls, but I'm reading it anyway. I've also read Little Women. My feminine side might be a little more pronounced than I'm comfortable with.
