I saw The Hobbit yesterday. I expected it would be sold out, but not even close. There were about 15 people in the theater. Granted it was at noon, so not a popular time, but I still expected more people than that.
It was good. Very much like the Lord of The Lord of The Rings movies. So if you (liked/hated) them, you will (like/hate) this movie.
I don't usually like long movies and this was really long. For some reason I assumed it would end when he met Gollum, but it just kept going and going. Part of the reason it seemed so long is that I didn't go to sleep during it. I virtually always go to sleep during movies. I can't help it. Cushy seats and dark - a powerful combination. I usually miss twenty minutes of a movie somewhere in the middle. That can make the plot hard to follow. I did that during "Brave". The movie was rolling along nicely. After my nap in the middle I figured I could piece together the plot. I awake to find out the girl's mother had somehow turned into a bear. What? I gave up trying.
So I was amazed and very proud of myself that I stayed awake during all of The Hobbit. Worst part of the movie - When an orc blows his nose on a Hobbit. Its disturbing. It should be rated R just for that.
