Trailblazer Woes

 

How bad are my Portland Trailblazers this year? Bad, really bad. Record-wise, not our worst season ever. That was over 50 years ago when we won only 18 games. This year we have 19 wins with about 10 games to go. Our second worst season saw a total of 21 wins. I'm not sure we can get there, but maybe. So we need 3 wins to not be tied for second worst season win total. That will be tough. We're currently on a 9-game losing streak. (We had another 9 game streak earlier this season.) By the way all-time worst losing streak for us is 13 games - well within reach.

Last night we lost by 60. If that sounds like a lot, it is. We lost by 62 just a couple months ago. I looked up worst losses every in the NBA. That 62 is 5th place on the all-time list. But coming in at #3 with a 65 point loss is another Trailblazer game from a few years ago. Thankfully, there are the Grizzlies that lost by a whopping 79 points once, so at least we don't have that. But we do have 2 of the worst 5 losses ever, and with last night's loss I'm sure we have 3 of the bottom 10. (The websites I saw didn't go that low.)

Another stat - we started 5 rookies recently. Only one other team had ever done that. Our youth plus a lot of injuries has made for a rough season. 

The good news -  we have what I consider to be a couple winnable games coming up. I have thought that before and they have often not worked out like I had hoped. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
