However I did go inside Westminster Abbey. That was also quite expensive. Also they had a bunch of rules on where you can go, no pictures, etc. All the big churches are pretty much terrible publicity for Christianity in general, but that apparently isn't their top priority.
It was worth it though, satisfying my love of famous graves. Its got a bunch.
- There are the kings and queens, of course - Queen Elizabeth, Bloody Mary, Mary Queen of Scots, and a whole mess of Henrys, Richards and Edwards.
- Famous scientists - Isaac Newton (my hero, in spite of having the personality of a thistle), Charles Darwin, Stephen Hawking. Even though they had creepy spies everywhere, I did get pictures of Isaac and Stephen.
- Authors - Chaucer, Charles Dickens, Tennyson, Rudyard Kipling (How do you like Kipling? I don't now, I've never Kippled. That was a killer joke about a hundred years ago.)
I liked the graves, but many of them were just built into the floor. I felt guilty when I found myself standing on top of Dickens or something. They have a million rules, but nothing about that, so I guess its fine.
Got to see Wimbledon from a distance. A great distance.
I walked across Abbey Road. Its right next to Abbey Road Studios. The Beatles needed an album cover and just walked outside and crossed the street. Its still a working studio, so you can't go in. Nothing stopping you from walking the crosswalk about 15 times, which I did. They did have a nice little gift shop next door.
So ends Friday.
