Israel II

At the Sea of Galilee for a couple days. I saw the sun rise over the Sea of Galilee. That is mostly because I'm waking up at freaking 3 a.m. because of jet lag. I guess that's what it is. I've never had a problem with that before, but I've also never gone through ten time zones in a single day before either. Maybe getting up at 3 isn't that bad then. It isn't because of stress because my sole responsibility is to make sure I get on the bus by 8 o'clock.

We had a boat trip on the sea (Its really a lake. I hate it when people, including lakes, make claims just so they can feel better about themselves.) It didn't go all the way across. That would have put us in Jordan, which I'm not sure is a good idea. We started on the west side and ended up on the north. There we went to a museum that housed a 2,000 year old boat they had recently discovered.

Then back on the bus and up north. We stopped at what they claim is the site of the Sermon on the Mount. They've had people there previously with acoustic equipment. They said a person could be there and make himself heard to a few thousand people, so maybe this is the spot. Then up to the remains of Caesarea Philippi and the source of the Jordan River.

Along the way we saw a lot of agriculture. They have the olive trees and grapes that go back thousands of years. But they've also started growing bananas, mangoes and other tropical kinds of things.

Our final stop was at Capernaum. This was my favorite spot so far. It is just the remains of the city, but you can see where everything was. They roofs are missing, but all of the walls are there.

Tonight I went to my kosher McDonalds again. That was fun. I had to get back, though, for my 8 p.m. bedtime so I could wake up at 3 a.m
