We went to Lincoln Center. That was cooler than I thought it was going to be. They had a big, free exhibit on Frank Sinatra. That was super fun. Right next to that was the Julliard School of Music. I don't think I even knew that was in New York City. That would be so cool to be good enough to be accepted to go to school there. I went in their gift shop and that's probably as close as I'm going to get.
I had the choice of going shopping at Macy's or launching out on my own. So, NYC, here I come. I rode the subway all by myself. Pretty impressive. I've never even eaten at a Subway restaurant by myself, so this was a little daunting. I'm sure with my camera and my subway map I looked 100% tourist, but despite what you might think everyone seems very polite here. Aside from the above mentioned riots at least.
I found the house where Teddy Roosevelt was born. It was closed, but that's fine. I wasn't that interested in it anyway. The original was torn down and this is a replica. But interesting to see, anyway. Walking, I just stumbled onto the Flatiron building. That is one weird looking building.
I took a chance on the J.P. Morgan museum. It turned out to be cool. It was J.P.'s original mansion. His library and office were shown just as he had them when living here. Both are larger than some houses. There was also a display of letters Lincoln wrote along with the original 13th Amendment freeing the slaves.
You can go into the Museum of Modern Art free on Friday evenings, so I did. Very cool and very crowded. The most fun parts were Andy Warhol's pictures of Marilyn Monroe and soup cans. There were a bunch of other pictures that I'm familiar with and if I'm familiar with them, they must be pretty famous.
Afterwards we came across Tiffany's. Despite what you hear, turns out they don't serve breakfast there. And I'm about 60% sure I found the grate where Marilyn Monroe's dress flew up. New York has got it all.
Tomorrow I'm flying out of the Big Apple. I'm sure I won't be back because as far as I'm concerned, I've done about 95% of everything worth doing here.
