World Series

It's all over. My little Royals lost. Guy on third with two out, bottom of the ninth. A hit ties it and a home run wins the series. But it didn't happen. That's OK. It's only a game. Just kidding. That's something losers say to make themselves feel better. There's no feeling better. At least I don't live in Kansas City and lived through upteen losing seasons. The slight amount of chagrin I feel is nothing compared to what Kansas Citites must be feeling.

Right before that triple I was actually thinking what if someone hits a ball and it could be an inside the park home run? Could you possible try for it or would you hold up at third? And that's exactly what happened. Turns out they maybe should have gone for it.

So, a guy on third. And if the next guy hits a home run, it might be the greatest play in baseball history. But it would have been close, though. As it is, the greatest moment was when the Dodgers played the A's. The A's were the favorites. Game 1, bottom of the ninth, two out, and their MVP, Kirk Gibson, who is injured, comes limping up to the plate. Yes, limping. He can barely walk and he's facing Dennis Eckersly, the best pitcher in baseball. As Bob Costas said, "Who's writing this script?" He hits a home run to win the game and limp around the bases. I think it was Gibson's only at bat of the series. The Royals batter might have surpassed it just because it was Game 7, but I don't know.

I was having trouble with our on-line banking. It kept not taking the password and had to keep being reset by the bank. After months of this, it finally turned out that the problem is that the bank had me coded as being deceased. What the what??? I feel pretty good, so I'm pretty sure the bank was wrong. Anyway, maybe it really is only a game.
