Jim Beam

I travel farther on my journey to the home of Jim Beam. Its where they make it, but it also has a tour of the place. On the tour you can even take pictures of whatever you would like. Hear that KFC headquarters? Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. So back off Chicken Nazis. You could learn a thing or two from the fine folks at Jim Beam. As you may recall when I was at KFC headquarters, I was told I couldn't take a picture of the building. That inspite of the fact that it is located right on a major road and it has a big sign out front saying what it is. (And by the way, just for being poopy pants about me taking a picture of your building, here it is. Bam.)

I had my doubts about even going there, as I've never even tasted bourbon, and thus am not a big fan. As tours go, it was really good. Our tour leader was enthusiastic and really funny. It was interesting to see the blend of how parts of the process is the same as its been for a hundred years and some contains a good deal of science and technology.

At the end of the tour everyone got a free glass and got to sample two different types of bourbon. I thought, "I might like this." Nope. Really nasty. For my second try I went for some kind of honey flavored bourbon. I thought, the honey might help. Nope. Strike two. But that's alright. It was still a great tour.
