Benjamin Harrison

While I was in Indianapolis I went to Benjamin Harrison's home. He was our 23rd President. How could I pass that up? Ben didn't accomplish a lot while he was President. His grandfather was William who was also President. He is mainly known for being President only for a month before dying. So they had a grand total of two years and one month. It isn't exactly the Kennedy dynasty, but still kind of impressive. In the ranking of Presidential families, by my calculations the Roosevelt family has a commanding lead, with the Adams and Bush family tied for second, followed by the Harrisons.

Right at the start, the lady leading the tour asked if we knew anything about Benjamin Harrison. Not trying to brag, but I think I had an impressive set of knowledge on him. I did keep myself from saying, "Maybe you could just step aside and let me lead this tour?". I did not, because that would have been rude. It turns out she did know a lot about him and his house. I never had good feelings about him because he beat my boy, Grover Cleveland. Grover was President on each side of Ben. After Grover's first term, Benjamin beat Grover although Grover won the popular vote and thus should have won. If that was the case, he would have been President for 3 terms and thought of as one of our best Presidents instead of being just a footnote. I guess enough time has gone by that I can forgive and forget, Ben.

In my creepy quest to find cool graves, I went to a cemetery in Indianapolis which it turns out is the third biggest in the United States. I went to see Benjamin Harrison's grave. As an added bonus it also had John Dillinger's grave and several other. Score.
