Lexington Cemetary

There is an old cemetery in Lexington that has some famous people buried in it. Its fun looking for them. You can find general location of grave sites on findagrave.com. Seriously. Then going to look for them is like an adventure. I found Adolph Rupp - famous UK basketball coach. That took almost an hour. Jim Varney is there. He was the star of the "Ernest" movies. John Hunt Morgan was a famous confederate general. I thought he would be tough, but his was surrounded by confederate flags, so it was actually pretty easy. I couldn't find John Breckenridge. He was a famous politician during that time. He and Stephen Douglas and somebody else I can't remember ran for president in 1860 as Democrats. The three of them split the vote enough that the Republican, Lincoln, got elected. I don't think he was really in the military, but it also had Colonel Sanders.

Searching for graves could be a way of honoring their memory. Or it could just be a sick, morbid fascination. I'm not sure.

That same night I also saw the movie "Lincoln". It was in a mall that is maybe the biggest I've ever seen. I was there on a Saturday during the Christmas season, it was wall-to-wall people. Not my kind of thing. Anyway, Lincoln was good. In the theater, we sat in front of a guy that looked a little like John Wilkes Booth, so that was a little disconcerting, but it turned out find. I'm not sure what source material they are using, but this was nothing like, "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter". It makes me question the historical accuracy of one or both movies. Lets get our stories straight, people.
