What is going on with Oregon football? My little ducklings are now ranked number two in the nation. Nice job, boys. I try to keep up periodically with what is going on, but there is not a big U of O fan base here. I was going to check scores one Saturday, but the game didn't start until 10:30 p.m. my time. Unbelievable. I have in the past heard people on TV talk about how they couldn't stay up to see the end of last night's game. I get that now.
So, the number two ranking is nice, but not that hard to believe. What in the world is Oregon State doing at number 18? They're beating nationally ranked teams. Wow. Number 18 is getting up there. Most OSU students can even count that high (zing!). OSU, even though I don't like you, I'm proud of you. Enjoy this time before your inevitable fall back to earth. (I'm betting next Saturday.)
Meanwhile the going is not as good for the University of Kentucky. The motto this season seems to be, "Hey, we're really good in basketball". We have one win and two losses. I think the win was against some community college team. We lost to Louisville the first game of the season. U of O and OSU root against each other and have some good natured teasing of the other. The Louisville / UK rivalry seems like it might be a little more intense.
I have an Oregon hat and a Kentucky hat, so I'm covered. I saw the Kentucky hat for $22 at a sports store. I waited and got the same one at Wal-Mart for $8. Bam.
