It turns out the the Eisenhower and Truman Presidential museums are right on our way. I love stuff like this. Ike's is in Abilene, Kansas. I don't think Abilene looks a lot different from how in looked in 1880. It looks like Wyatt Earp could be riding down the street at any point. I've never really warmed up to Ike for some reason and his presidential museum was nice, but nothing super spectacular. They have a small chapel where he and Mamie are buried and the house he grew up in. The museum is split between WWII and Presidential stuff. These picture are of Ike's place. I'll due Harry another time.
No offense Ike, but Truman's was much, much better. A bunch of cool stuff, and many more visitors. It had the actual "Buck Stops Here" sign he had on his desk, an actual "Dewey Defeats Truman" newspaper, a replica of how his oval office looked, and a bunch more stuff. If I were to assign grades to the presidential museums I've been to, which I am, Nixon & Truman - A, Reagan - B plus, Ike & Carter - C.
