Heading North

The trip begins today. We're going to Washington first and then back East from there. There were a few final things to do before leaving. There were a last few food items to get rid of. I threw the trash out and I thought the food thought would be best to put down the garbage disposal. It seemed like a good plan initially. We had a box of those instant potato flakes. It turns out they greatly expand when they get wet. Let me give you some advice. Do not, I repeat, do not pour those down the garbage disposal. Things got clogged up real bad. Drano, what was guaranteed to work, didn't work. I removed the trap below. (I think its called a trap.) If you imagine the Red Sea collapsing in on the Egyptians and the Red Sea containing water and instant potatoes, you get a pretty good idea of the ensuing situation. By removing the trap, I was able to clean a lot of it out, but its stopped up past that point, which I didn't deal with because we were 2 hours late getting started anyway. I'm thinking that may dry out over time and then return to the state where they will easily flow through the drain. If not, that will be on my to-do list for May.

So we left with the two cats. One to be dropped off in Washington and one in St. Louis. The trip was a catastrophe (Zing!). OK, actually it went much better than I thought it would go. There was a lot of meowing, which I assumed if was translated to English would not be printable here, but otherwise, went OK.

Hi Jim! Seriously, currently I am laughing hysterically! I will make note of the instant mashed potatoes and pass along this useful information to Richard and Morgan, as well! Safe travels and God bless! =)
