Here is the next issue that I will solve for the world. Fake news. We've heard that phrase a lot lately. Oddly, fake news is in the news.
Let me start with - I don't think there is a lot of fake news. If news is an hour or less, its usually fine. Up until a few weeks ago I was taping, then watching the ABC News broadcast each night. It gets to be all the same, though - a mass shooting or some heinous crime, then a big storm, presidential legal problems, then a heart-warming story at the end. (I support our military people, but at some point can we be done with video of a military person surprising his child at a school assembly.) Seems like every news show those same basic stories. That sameness just gets a little old after a while.
The waste of time news is the news channels that are on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There just isn't that much news. So, they have to pad it with a lot of commentary on the news. And that commentary will be slanted toward whoever owns that news channel. CNN/MSNBC - anti-Trump. Fox - pro-Trump. We'll tell you the news and let you know how to interpret it. We're not dumb. Tell us the news and let us figure it out from there. The CNN website is especially bad. Its not just anti-Trump, but its the "Look how awesome we are" channel. "Anderson Cooper calls out Trump". "Don Lemon goes after Trump Lies". I just made those up. I just went to their website to try to find a real one. Here we go, "Cooper Reacts to Trump Golf Trip". Dear CNN, we don't care about the Trump golf trip and we care even less about what Anderson Cooper thinks of it.
I guess I especially dislike CNN because it used to be good. But I dislike any of those news channels
that are on the air non-stop. And I don't trust NBC news, because they seem to think MSNBC was a good idea. That leaves ABC and CBS. Although Brian Williams has a one hour news show on MSNBC that I think is really good. (Plus, Brian is really dreamy.) Brian got ripped off when he was dropped from NBC. Malcom Gladwell did a really good podcast about Brian and how he got unfairly dropped. I think its called the 11th Hour, because it comes on at 11:00. But they really need a different named because on the west coast it comes on at 8:00. Very confusing.
The best news is the broadcasts where you aren't sure if the anchor is a Democrat or Republican. There isn't much of that around anymore.
The solution to fake news - You've got half an hour to give us the news. That's all. Just news. No commentary please.
