I saw Sir Elton for the final time yesterday. Every time I saw him I figured that was the last. It just worked out that he would be somewhat nearby (within a few hundred miles) and I just figured I couldn't pass up those opportunities. I thought I paid a lot for this last concert. I looked at my ticket and it was like $50. Somehow I must have gotten in on a good deal. Good seats? Not as some would define good. He sits at his piano about 98% of the time and he had his back to me pretty much throughout. And I was high up - 300 level. I was in row H of the 300 level, though. I believe to goes to row Z, so I could have done worse. In other concerts I've maybe three times or so had really good seats. If you know what your doing and the rock n roll gods are on your side, you can get pretty good tickets for not too much money. And I can afford this as other expensive things I could do; e.g. gambling, high class socializing, golf, boating, jet skiing; I don't do. It leaves me with plenty of Elton money.
What do I do now? There are other concerts I suppose, but I've pretty much seen the people I want to see. Is Elvis still alive? I'm don't need / wouldn't know how to operate high tech equipment. A goal for 2019 - find a way to foolishly spend money. Not a lot of money because I'm not rich. Although I might become rich since I'm not chasing Elton around anymore.
Anyway the concert was great. No big surprises for me. He did Border Song which I don't think I've heard him do live before. In the second half of the show he wore something that looked like it was from the set of the Pee Wee Herman show. At the end of his last song, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, he got on some kind of lift / escalator kind of thing and was lifted away. That was new - weird and new.
So farewell, Elton. All I have to remember you by is all your dvds and every CD you every made. I guess that will probably do me.
