Raider Nation

I saw the Raiders play the Chargers. I had a good time. It was not what you would call a good games as games go, but that is fine.

On the down side, it was really smoky because of a major fire in the area. They thought about canceling or moving the game. Luckily, they didn't.

As you can see from my picture, I was up a ways. Not the very top. There were about fifteen rows behind me. Even high up, though, looks like the view you would have if you watched it on TV.

Also on the down side, as I mentioned, it was a poor football game. The Chargers are pretty good this year, but started off the game terribly. Philip Rivers didn't have a completion until the second quarter. The Raiders started slightly better. The best play for the Raiders was a fake punt on their first possession. It went for 42 yards. It lead to a field goal. They added another field goal in the second half and there you have the Raider highlights. Rivers started poor, but then got his groove and looked good. I saw on-line a Cleveland Brown fan being happy they were no longer the worst team in the league. Raiders now have a 1-8 record and have not scored a touchdown in the last 9 quarters. Poor little Raiders.

On the plus side, the Raider fans, who have a long-time reputation of being the worst fans in the league, were well behaved. I guess losing all hope of getting to the Super Bowl takes the competitive edge away from the fan base.

They were showing Red Zone on the big screen at the stadium before the game. Also, they unfurled a big old flag for the national anthem and three sky divers parachuted in. Fun. Who needs a good football game.
