World Series

World Series update - Boston is going to win. It's all over. Not technically, but I'm pretty confident. I wasn't going to get into it, but I had a long car ride and I thought that would be interesting. Indeed it was. Game 3 went 18 innings - the longest game in WS history. There were a million stations and only one had the World Series, and that was a station 300 miles away that kept fading in and out.

Baseball on the radio is surprisingly good. That is because the announcers are so good. They have to be, because of the long stretches of games in which nothing much is going on. Which, by the way, is about 90% of any baseball game. How dreadful did life use to be in the United States that baseball was ever considered the national past time? Anyway, the announcers were good. Vin Scully of the Dodgers was about the only guy left that did games all by himself. He did it for a million years and was interesting the whole time. It's tough because there really isn't a lot to talk about. Its not a strategic game. A batter comes up to bat and selects his strategy. "What should I do this time? I know. I'll try to hit the ball as far as I can. That same strategy I've used every other time." Not a lot for an announcer to work with. Even homers, which are supposed to be the most exciting play really aren't. "There's a long drive, and it's a home run. The batter is running around the bases. He just passed second base. Let's see if he can make it to third. He does. And he's now jogging toward home. And he's safe." Kind of anti-climactic, I think.

I probably won't watch anything else of this series. I don't really like either team. The Dodgers have been in so much. Plus I'm just a bit jealous of the LA fans. Their spoiled. If the Dodgers don't win, they'll have to wait a full year. No. They'll just start rooting for the LA Chargers, LA Rams, LA Clippers, LA Lakers, LA Angels, USC, or UCLA.

I don't care for Boston Red Sox fans. It was 100 years of "Boo hoo. Our Red Sox are cursed. Curse of the Bambino. Everyone feels sorry for us." Finally, in 2004, with skill and a bunch of steroids, they won. You can stop your crying now. For years the Cubs fans were in the same position, but they were like, "We're not cursed, we just suck."

I was going to talk about the game, but didn't get around to it. LA won, but they still are going to lose the series. It's fine, LA. The Rams are winning.
