- Written between 1400 BC and 100 AD
- Not divided into chapters until 1228 AD
- Not divided into verses until 1448 AD (An important step, making it much easier to take things out of context.)
- Total words in the Bible - 773,692
- The middle verse of the Bible - Psalms 103:1,2 (a tie because there are an even number of verses.)
- Interestingly, Psalm 117 is both the shortest and the middle chapter of the Bible
- Also interesting the shortest chapter is only two chapters away from the longest - Psalm 119. It would have been really cool if 118 was the middle chapter. Close, but not quite there.
- Longest word: Maher-shalal-hash-baz
- Daniel 4:37 has all the letters of the alphabet, except Q
- Longest verse in the Bible is Esther 8:9. Also, I believe that is the only book in the Bible that doesn't mention God. How did that make the cut, anyway.
This was a great post. Really interesting, plus easy since I stole all the information from other websites. By the way, some of these could be wrong. It would depend on the version you use.
