Faith

I was thinking maybe I should start doing book reviews. I kind of did one when I talked about the book "Traffic". I like to read and I need stuff to blog about, so good combination.

So let's go with the book "Faith". Its Jimmy Carter's latest book. Our beliefs don't match up totally, but that is probably true of my beliefs and everyone else's in the world. Probably the only people I don't have problems with are those whose beliefs I don't know that much about.

Jimmy seems like a good guy. He's done a lot of good things, but people seem torn about him. I think its misguided to link being a Republican with being a Christian, but a lot of people do that. But Republican Christians tend not to like Jimmy because he is a Democrat, but like him because he is a Christian. There is a book about ex-presidents I once read. Ex-presidents have tended not to like him. He violates a lot of the club rules. There are cases where they all agree they should stay out of things and let the current president, whoever that might be at the time, handle it. Then next thing you know Jimmy is giving an interview on CNN about it.

But he has done a lot of good things. In part, I think, because he didn't have a real successful presidency. Nixon wrote a lot of books in his post-presidency. John Quincy Adams and Andrew Johnson both went into the Congress. It's like they have to come up with some things to shore up their legacy.

Well there is my book review. By the way, if I keep doing book reviews they'll probably kind of suck. I'll go off topic a lot and only touch on the book at times. You'll have to deal with that.
