Brady vs Brees

The NFL season is two weeks old. Much of it I don't care about, but here are updates on the parts I do.

Vikings - One win, no losses, and a tie. We are undefeated, but this is fairly unsatisfying. Could be worse, though, so I'll take it.

Titans - One win, one loss. Not as good as the Vikings, but winning half our games might be all the Titans can hope for. So, fine.

Marcus Mariotta - He got hurt. In these two games, he has played less than half of one game. And in that game he through a couple of interceptions. Not good. The only piece of good news is that his replacement has stunk it up, so when Marcus gets healed up his job should be waiting for him.

Now my quest to show that Drew Brees is better than Tom Brady:

Game one:

  • Brees completes 80%, Brady completes 69%
  • Brees passes for 243 yeards, Brady for 234
  • Both had two touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Conclusion: Game one goes to Drew Brees

Game two:
  • Brees completes 82% of his passes, Brady 67%
  • Brees passes for 439 yards, Brady passes for 277 yards
  • Brees has three touchdowns and no interceptions, Brady also has three touchdown, but one interception.
Conclusion: Game two goes to Tom Brady

Tom does lead in rushing -  a very pedestrian twelve yards on four carries. Pedestrian in the sense that pedestrians in crosswalks move faster than Tom Brady. (Zing!)

The only thing slower than Tom Brady? Drew Brees. In the age of the running quarterback, Brees has run the ball once for a total gain of negative one yards. Turtles run faster and at least go forward rather than backwards.

I declare Brees ahead of Brady after two games. I recognize that I might be the only one that cares about this matchup, but there it is.
