Here is my last adventure in L.A. I hope ever. I may get drug back to Disneyland for the umpteenth time, but I hope not. With going on the Sony Studio Tour, I can't think of anything else I would want to do here.
I had heard that of various studio tours, The Sony Tour was the least of them. For one thing, you didn't get to ride around in little carts. You had to walk the various places. I'm fine with walking and I thought the tour was good. You didn't need carts because we didn't really end up walking that far anyway.
We got to see where a lot of famous movies were made, like Men in Black, etc. Those sound stages bear no resemblance now, so its tough to imagine.
We did see the actual sets of the Goldbergs, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. We were with a group of about twenty. The guide asked, "How many have you have seen the Goldbergs?" I think one person raised his hand. Awkward. I would like to see the show now, to see how it compares to the set I saw, but sounds like I better do it pretty quick.
It was fun to see Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Pretty cool. They wouldn't let you take pictures, so I really have nothing to show of what the set looked like. I'm not sure I get the reason for that rule. They've been on five times a week for about twenty years. Exactly what would I be giving away by taking a picture of the set? I guess I could see that rule for movies about to come out, so nothing is given away. Although even then, they show trailers in the theater months ahead of time and seem to give away almost everything. However I'm working on my attitude regarding such things, so it's all good. You don't want pictures. That's fine. Sony Nazis.
Those two shows seem to have about the same demographics - People whose bedtime is just shortly after those shows are done. But how do they attract the same audience when the hosts are completely different. Spend an hour with Pat Sajak and the time would just fly. If you had to spend an hour alone in a room with Alex Trebek it would feel like ... I can't even calculate it. Would it be like five hours? (Get it. I put the answer in the form of a question. I am so proud of myself right now.)
So there are the highlights. Looking back on it, maybe this was the worst of the tours. But, if so, not by much, and still pretty darn fun.
