Yar. That is my car's name. I can't believe I struggled so long to come up with that. It's a Yaris (Yeah, I never heard of it either) and now it rhymes - Yar the Car. Just so obvious. Also, he loves saying his name because it makes him sound like a pirate. So cute. My last car was Neo the Neon, before that was Cecilia Celica. In college I had a beat up Volkswagen. He didn't have a name. "Li'l Piece of Garbage" would of been an appropriate name, though. Maximum speed - 48 miles per hour. Seriously. It made commuting to college on the freeway really a whole lot of fun. Cars were passing me like I was standing still. I was actually traveling at a speed not much faster than standing still, so I guess that makes sense.

A couple days ago I got Yar's license plates in the mail. The first three numbers - 007. How cool is that? Then it has three letters that I don't even remember what they are. But "007" is the coolest thing ever. Not that James Bond would ever drive a car as inexpensive as mine. Yar - Pirate / Secret Agent.
As I type this I just realize this is Yar's one month birthday. (Don't cry. I am not going to cry.) Bless his heart. I haven't driven him very far yet. He doesn't even have 400 miles on him. That really isn't very much. Neo was getting close to 20,000 a year. Don't worry Yar, you'll catch up.

And look at what I just found on my computer desktop. Neo's odometer when he got to 222,222 miles. Yes, I should have stopped to take the picture and not simply slowed down, but who has that kind of time? That was less than a year ago. And now he's gone. (Do not cry! I am not going to cry!) Good times. Neo was actually my first new car ever. I had always heard it was cheaper to by a used car, but then I read an article that showed it was about the same. When you figure a new car has a warranty (or guarentee - I've never known the difference), a longer life, more unlikely to break down, and other stuff I don't remember, you might as well buy a new car. Plus you don't know what kind of family a used car grew up in. And you get new license plates.
