Playoff Woes

I did pretty well in predictions in week one of the playoffs. Week two has not gone as well. So far, zero for three. My boy Marcus played pretty well, but his team got beat down. By the end, I was just watching when Marcus had the ball and fast forwarding when New England had it. I also had to turn down the volume so as not to hear the announcers go on and on about how great NE is and Tennessee isn't. Tony Romo is probably a fine guy, but I wish he would go back to losing games for Dallas rather than being an announcer. There are some announcers that I would just like to tell them - Stop talking so much. You don't have to say everything that comes into your head.

Anyway, losing is fine. Its not like we were going to win the Super Bowl. If you're going to lose, lose early. If you lose the Super Bowl, then "You can't win the big one" even though all the playoff games up to that point are just as crucial.

Here is something kind of interesting, but possibly only to me. I've seen two NFL games, both with my heroes - Fran Tarkenton and Marcus Mariotta. After this second game I was thinking it was similar to the other game I saw. You can go back and find the stats for any NFL game ever, so I looked up the stats for both games. Check it out:

Final Scores:

Seattle 29, Minnesota 28
SF 25, Tennessee 23

In both games, my team lost on a field goal as time expired.

Fran stats:

27 for 37 for 73%, 274 yards, 2 TDs, 0 Interceptions

Marcus stats:

23 for 33 for 70%, 241 yards, 2 TD, 0 Interceptions

Oh my gosh. Its like the JFK / Lincoln comparisons. Uncanny. Like I said, probably only of interest to me, but that's fine.

Marcus could learn something from Francis. Be OK with the second round loss. If you make it to the Super Bowl and lose, you live your life with not being able to win the big one.
