All Star Game

I watched pretty much all of the all star game last night. I watched the first 9 innings when it was tied 1-1. I thought this might go on for awhile. I thought I would go to the gym and watch it while on a treadmill. Sports are good things to watch on treadmills since you don't really need the noise. In fact it usually improves it. Even though I liked the announcers for the all star game I still thought it would be fun to see it at the gym. And what are the chances with a low scoring game, that I would miss any action? It turns out I missed the game-winning home run. In the five minutes it took to get there the score became 2-1 and pretty much over.

American League won again. It used to be the National League all the time. I just looked it up  - The American League has won the last five in a row. Before that, the National League won 3 in a row. Before that the AL won 12 in a row. Then NL 3 in a row, then AL 6 in a row. Then about 6 years of back and forth. Then NL won 25 out of 28. Weird.

I saw an all star game when I was in college. I happened to be in Seattle two weeks before the game and their ticket window was open. I thought I would take a shot. I got cheap, but good seats, tickets. I was sitting about five rows in back of a famous old-time player, Pee Wee Reese. (I assume not his real name.) And get this, after the game I got the San Diego Chicken's autograph. (Again, probably not his real name.) Anyway, Mr. Chicken was very accommodating. He did a base stealing exhibition between innings which was awesome. Tony Gwynn and The Chicken are really the only two good things to come out of San Diego Padre baseball in their history.
