Fruit Playoff

I found a great thing on-line you can create brackets for any number of teams. I had 26 teams in my fruit playoff. I just clicked on that and there was a bracket. I could fill in the names. Great. Then I tried to save it. It saved the bracket, but didn't print any of the names. So not helpful at all. It would be good if you needed a bracket for some weird number of teams, like 26. But looks like you are on your own from there. That is the case for me. So I'll do it in a rough fashion.

Here we go.

Apricot vs. Apple - Winner: Apple
Avacado vs. Bananas - Banana
Berries vs. Cantalope - Berries
Cherries vs. Dates - Cherries
Figs vs. Grapes - Grapes

So far, easy choices. As you can tell I went with setting up the bracket alphabetically. They didn't come with a regular season won-loss records to seed them that way. Carrying on:

Grapefruits vs. Kiwis - Kiwis
Kumquats vs. Lemons - Kumquats
Limes vs. Mangoes - Mangoes (Dan Quayle got a lot of bad press for not knowing how tell spell the plural of potato. Turns out I'm not sure either.)
Oranges vs. Papayas - Oranges (Papayas are protesting the fact that I've never eaten one. A valid point. However, protest denied.)
Passion Fruit vs. Peaches - Peaches
Pears vs. Persimmons - Pears
Pineapples vs. Plums - Pineapples
Pomegranates vs. Watermelons - Watermelons

Most were pretty easy picks. In all fairness, several of these had the disadvantage of me not knowing what they even are.

Round two:

Apple vs. Banana - Banana (Some apples are mushy. Turns out one bad apple does spoil the whole barrel.)
Berries vs. Cherries - Berries (Cherries have pits)
Grapes vs. Kiwis - Grapes (Not even close)
Kumquats vs. Mangoes - Mangoes (Mangoes benefiting from being seeded in a week bracket)
Oranges vs. Peaches - Peaches (What is with that peel, oranges. Too inaccessible)
Pears vs. Pineapples - Pineapples (Pears seem just a little too whimpy)
Watermelons draw a bye.

Round three:

Bananas vs. Berries - Bananas (Too whimpy/squishy)
Grapes vs. Mangoes - Grapes (Not a fair fight)
Peaches vs. Pineapples - Pineapple (Peaches - good from a can, not so directly from a tree)
Watermelons -  another bye

Round four:

Bananas vs. Grapes - Bananas (I'm sorry, I love you grapes, but the seedless kind from the other side of the tracks was your downfall.)
Pineapples vs. Watermelons - Pineapples (Watermelons have just been coasting with all those byes. And, work on that seed issue)

Final Round:

Lets break this down:

Ease of Access: Banana - 5, Pineapple - 3 (I've never cut into a fresh one, but their outsides makes them look a little standoffish)

Universality: Both 5's.

Tastiness: Banana - 4, Pineapple - 5. (Bananas can go bad after awhile. Real bad.)

Consistency: Bananas - 3, Pineapple - 5.

Pineapple is your big winner.

Wasn't that fun. I wouldn't usually take that kind of time on a post, but I'm doing this while watching a playoff game anyway. I'm looking forward to pineapples at halftime.
