- The Kaepernick Effect - People said they would stop watching NFL games because of players protesting by sitting out the National Anthem. I figured they were bluffing. Apparently they weren't. I wonder if those same people decided to reject the current political powers.
- Too many penalties. Every play seems to have a penalty. They may not be called, but they're there. Its not like someone accidentally did something. They are trying to get away with stuff and hope they don't get caught. Same thing in society.
- A lack of good players. Most fans, I think, are like me. I know some players, but almost all of them are quarterbacks. So, for at least parts of the season Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Russell Wilson have been out. They were replaced with sub par players. In the election both sides could have gotten candidates that didn't have such low ratings.
- Big Star push-back. People get tired of spoiled rich football players. They aren't just rich; they are filthy rich. On top of that, they get commercials that makes tons more money. Then they whine about not being respected. On the other hand, Hillary had all these rich, Hollywood people endorsing her.
- Overexposure. There used to be Sunday afternoon football. Then they added Monday Night Football. Then Sunday Night. They added some Thursday night games the last few weeks of the season and now its every week. Now there are games in London occasionally that you can squeeze in early Sunday. Its not that special. Kind of related was Hillary's over exposure. In the past I haven't bought into the idea of media bias except for the obvious exception of Fox and MSNBC. But I thought it was on CNN this year. They blend in commentary and act like its news. You, the public, aren't smart enough to understand the news, we'll explain it too you and tell you how you should vote. I saw some clown, Ana Navarro, that just ranted against Trump. She has a right to do that, but she shouldn't be doing it on a news show.
- Final connection - all of the candidates and players seem to have been hit in the head too much.
