Partridge Family

I'm getting close to done with my binge watching The Partridge Family. I'm on its fourth and final season. Things are spiraling out of control. This season, Laurie changed her hair, Reuben has a mustache, and they added a dopey little kid. Plus, they are jumping the shark all over the place.

This new kid is just the next door neighbor, but he's been in every episode so far. Sometimes he has big parts and sometimes not. But so far at the end of each episode he sings a song. Yes, its adorable, but I see no reason for this. Let the Partridges sing another song if you want.

I saw on the internet that Reuben past away last year. The person that played the little girl passed away just a few days ago. Danny and Keith have both had drug and alcohol problems in the past. Danny said he was living out of his car at one point. I guess things weren't quite as idyllic as they seemed on the show.

I've been listening to their music on Spotify. I forgot how much I liked that kind of thing. It was called bubblegum music at the time - Partridge Family, Bobby Sherman, Jackson 5. It isn't profound or anything. Just upbeat and happy. That's all I'm looking for in music. I don't need to hear about a social protest or how bad things are.

I have about ten more episodes, then I'll have watched them all. Its a short list of shows in which I've seen them all. The Tick (only 8 episodes), Police Squad (more than 8, but not by much), The West Wing. That might be it. Partridges - you're in select company.
