Two weeks until the election. It's kind of like the Super Bowl. I don't really care who wins, but it would be nice to have an exciting game. Something that comes down to the wire. Something that needs the election equivalent of an instant replay. The election in 2000 was like that, but it went into overtime. I'm not rooting for that.
I've already voted. I did it within about five minutes of getting my ballot. I hope I didn't waste my vote, but I wrote in Richard Nixon. If he were actually on the ballot I think he would be a winner. He has a bunch of positive points. And what is his bad side? He fibbed a couple times and covered up some information. After this past campaign you gotta think, "Hey, is that all?" Comparatively, Dick is looking pretty good. So maybe its not too late. Write him in folks. Hey, Spiro isn't looking to bad either. He was criticized because he said pointed things about the press. That wouldn't even make the news this year.
In the past I remember being sick of election stuff by now. This time there is just as much news coverage, but it doesn't seem like there are nearly as many commercials. Maybe its just my imagination running away with me. (The Temptations.) Same thing for the other offices and the ballot measures. Quite a few ads, but it doesn't seem like nearly as many in the past.
The most depressing thing? The election is two weeks away. Within three weeks there will be commentators talking about the election in 2020. That will tick me off.
Speaking of that, lets get on the Dick Nixon bandwagon right now for next election. Be the first on your block. I've already got the campaign slogan. Dick and Spiro in two zero two zero. Catchy.
