Playoff Run

More playoff news. Sorry if you might be tired of this, but its kind of a big deal. I only have a week left and I'm in the championship. I'm talking about my fantasy team. Those of you that need the crutch of living in the real world probably can't relate, but I that isn't my problem now is it?

I added on a catcher Yadier Molina of the Angels. My regular catcher, Perez, has been alright, but he takes days off at times and I just can't afford that at this point in the season. Molina only catches. He fills a roster spot, and I had to drop someone that can play either second or third base, so I've lost some flexibility there. But today he's already 2 for 3 with a couple of RBIs, so at this point, I'm looking pretty smart.

It's a two week playoff. After five days now, I'm ahead 6 to 4. Some of the categories I'm ahead in are by a razor thin lead, so its pretty tight.

I've pretty much given up trying for saves, one of the ten categories they use to determine the winner. I had two good relievers. Papelbon was injured, then came back and was ineffective and they finally sent him to the minors. Plus, he's kind of a nut job anyway. I dropped him from my team. I wish I had done it sooner, but you just hang on, hoping he could turn things around.

I had another good reliever, Davis of the Royals. He was injured, they thought for a couple weeks, but it turned out to be longer. It was always "any day now", but it just went on. He finally came back and wasn't sharp. I panicked and dropped him. Now I think he's doing OK and I probably should have held on to him.

Almost my whole staff is starters now. My strategy for the final week is
to rack up wins and strikeouts and concede saves.

I'm a little disappointed with my outfielder, Kole Calhoun. He missed several days for "a leave of absence to be with his new born child". Kole is back, but he's sitting on the bench for me today. As soon as you get your priorities straight, maybe I'll put you back in.
