I just realized that I haven't blogged anything about Cleveland Cavaliers winning the NBA title.
- I'm happy for Lebron. A lot of people hate him and I don't get it. Sometimes his quotes are less than ideal, but so what? He left a poor team to go play for another team. That happens a lot. He came to the NBA as an 18 year old superstar and didn't explode with all kinds of stupid behavior. It doesn't always turn out that way. I think he's done a nice job basketball-wise and role model-wise. I think I've blogged about being in a McDonalds in Cleveland when they interrupted CNN with the news he was going back to Cleveland. For that alone I feel like we have a bond.
- I'm happy for the city of Cleveland. Boston Red Sox whined about their "curse" forever. Meanwhile the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Boston Bruins won a bunch of championships in other sports. Chicago Cubs haven't whined much, but pretty much the same situation - Da Bears, Da Bulls have won a lot over the years. Cleveland teams, in every sport, have stunk for decades. The Cleveland Browns have never been in a Super Bowl or even been close. The Cleveland Indians were good in the 1950's, maybe the early 60's. But Cleveland has just been patient. Congratulations on finally winning.
- I'm happy because I always like streaks being broken. No one had won an NBA Finals being down three games to one. Now they have.
- I'm even happy for the Warriors. I'm glad Cleveland won for the above reasons, but I like the Warriors. Also, I'm happy that they showed good character after losing in an especially tough way. All in all, a fun series.
